Building Teaching Skills Through the Interactive Web

Course Description

This 10-week online training course for English Language Teachers (ELTs) is offered through the University of Oregon's Linguistics Department/American English Institute (UO AEI). Participants in this course will build skills in English language teaching with technology. The overall objective is to enable teachers to understand and use appropriate technology to enhance the learning environment and outcomes for their students.

Participants will create an ongoing record of their work in the course and how the information can be used in their own classrooms using a blog. The weekly posts will also include an update on progress with a technology-enhanced project for each teacher's local school or setting.

Readings and Resources

Throughout each week, you will read about, analyze, reflect on, and discuss articles and resources related to language teaching and learning pedagogy. We will also explore options for incorporating computer-based tools and resources in face-to-face, blended, and online learning environments. Learn more…

Discussions

We will use the Nicenet course management system for our asynchronous (not in "real time") discussions related to the above readings, resources, and observations.

Weekly Blog Post

You will update your ongoing reflective blog each week, adding ideas and reflections about how the information you learned can be used in your local school or setting. Learn more…

Course Project
